Obedience and Results

I have discovered that it’s not always about getting results but it is always about obedience. God is more interested in obedience than He is in sacrifice.  Yes, we should believe God for instantaneous results and miracles.  Jesus is our model and when He was on earth we see that He always had instant breakthrough.  Heaven is always ready to show up for those who believe.  However, success for Jesus was defined as doing the will of His Father.  It was always about obedience not just about performing the works.  Still, we don’t want to be so focused on obeying God that we never have faith for Him to act right away.  We must allow the Holy Spirit to guide us.  Our first instinct should always be to obey; even as Jesus directed in Matthew 10:8.  He gave this instruction as a command not a suggestion, “heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons”. Let us be committed to obeying and leave the results to Heaven.

Oswald Chambers said something profound about obedience.  He writes, “If we realize that obedience is the end, then each moment as it comes is precious.”

As we go through life obeying God, we find that the process is not a means to an end; it is the end. God is focused on molding us into the image of Jesus, that’s it! It’s not about our final destination; it’s about walking with God today and now! God is in the now.  Salvation is for today.  Relationship is for today.  Power is for today. Grace is for this moment. Love is for right now.
